Mongolian Death Worm Movie on SyFy: Remember Tremors?

SyFy premieres its Mongolian Death Worm movie tonight, and all I can see is Tremors, minus Kevin Bacon. The Mongolian Death Worm is one of those mysterious monsters and mythical creatures classified with the Loch Ness Monster. Because the Mongolian Death Worm is named for a region, stories about the killer cryptids hungry for human flesh are not as rampant as the less geographically-specific mystery monsters including Bigfoot or the Chupacabra.

Mongolian Death Worms, because they supposedly exist in the Gobi Desert, and not globally, are not the most frightening of the mysterious monsters to be featured in a science fiction movie. In the 1990 film Tremors, on the other hand, the giant human-eating worms live in the desert in Nevada. Tremors was one of those science fiction monster films that was more entertaining than it should have been, and it will be interesting to see if SyFy's Mongolian Death Worm movie will match or outperform Tremors.

SyFy's Mongolian Death Worm stars Sean Patrick Flannery (The Boondock Saints), George Cheung (Lost, Seinfeld), and Victoria Pratt (Once A Thief, Xena) and premieres on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. EST and replays on May 9, 2010 at 1:00 a.m. EST.
